Energy radiates from the capitalized title of this absurd dance performance. And not without reason. Three dancers investigate, experimentally, concepts such as time, energy and consciousness. ‘Can we be in the now?’ is the question they ask themselves and around which the whole performance revolves. The award-winning young Australian dancer and choreographer Luke George is fascinated by the antitheses within this question. People are constantly trying to be in the ‘here and now’ but, as a result, they become further removed from it. At the same time, the question also concerns the performing arts: the performers are united with the public at this moment in time, although the performance has already been created. Pre-organized or not, this sincere dance experiment provides genuinely hilarious, touching and occasionally astonishing scenes. NOW NOW NOW is an Australian success by a choreographer who will make his very first European appearance at Noorderzon.
